Reading Hibernation
Traditionally, the week between Christmas and New Years has been for me a time to hibernate and read. The last deep dive I did, my mother was still alive. She gave me a slew of books for Christmas, all by authors whose first language was Spanish (because I asked for them, y’all–Mother always gave you what you asked for.) I feel like I’m about to jump ahead here and do a reading hibernation in November.
A circuitous path brought me here. I inadvertently read the first volume in a N.K. Jemison fantasy, ignorant that it was a series. Now I must read volume two. Other books, like Crystal Wilkinson’s Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts and Maurice Carlos Ruffin’s The American Daughters, have been on my list too long. I’m not willing to put them off anymore. And a few new books have popped up that I desperately want to read.
So. After this upcoming reading hibernation, expect a flurry of book reviews. 🙂
Good times ahead!
