March of the Marys
Each day for three weeks a new Mary appeared on the table. A 3D Advent calendar. A march toward Christmas. You think I like Mary? On this the last day of Advent, I still have Marys left scattered around the house. Tomorrow, they will burst forth and scurry to the table to join their sisters in Christ in their jubilant March of the Marys.

Wishing you a new year of joy and peace, Ellen. Your Mary of Christmas is wonderful. In our Tapestry (9:40 AM Sunday-School Group) of Idlewild Presbyterian Church, another woman, young mother, named Anna, who has a new job at our church, and I yesterday couldn’t get our thoughts away from the intense meaning of Mary, who birthed the savior of the world, long awaited. Our leader of the small group, A. J. Northrup, has taught us, a little-known word: “saram” blue, the indigo-like color worn by Mary, before she was also seen in red later. It’s a blue like this💙.
I look forward to keeping in touch. I’m interested in your writing abilities and commitment. I’ve not written a 2nd book after my 2011 memoir.
From an old acquaintance in small group at bookshop, the downtown St. Mary’s Church.

Patricia, good to hear from you. Mary is captivating, isn’t she? I didn’t know the word saram–thank you! Going to St. Mary’s all those years cemented my love of Mary, particularly the little chapel with its blue wallpaper speckled with stars (I don’t know if they even still have that paper…)
We shall see what happens with the writing. I’m hoping to keep myself open to the Spirit next year and see where it takes me.
Wishing you a 2024 full of joy as well. ❤️
