A Little News….
The first chapter of one of my novels has advanced to the 2nd round in a national contest.
IT HAS NOT WON!
But it advanced.
I share this news with y’all because I have learned to celebrate minor victories along my writing path. Sort of like when I went to the University of Virginia and the football team was so bad that we began singing “The Good Ol’ Song” not when we scored touchdowns (wasn’t happening) but when we made first downs.
I’ve made a first down.
I’ll keep y’all posted.

WOOHOO!!! May it keep moving forward! No matter what, CONGRATS for this stage!

As my husband says, “From your lips to God’s ear.” Thank you for the support!

Come on….you got to tell us. Which one?

I can’t remember if this is a blind submission, so I’ll use code: my first novel, which is set in your current state. It’s so old, I don’t think you’ve read it. 🙂

Definitely cause for celebration! I am comforted by having made finalist in a chapbook contest, especially given how little writing I’ve been able to do over these last months. Someday…

Being a finalist is a BIG deal—congratulations. I learned early on that if I was going to have joy in this career, I needed to do a dance at each small achievement. 🙂
